A Milestone Moment: White House Recognizes Importance of Renter Protections

A Relentless Dedication to VERO’s Core Mission

At the news of the Biden-Harris Administration's actions to protect renters, we're excited to share a monumental milestone in VERO’s journey: an official nod to our ongoing and unwavering commitment to tenant data protection. This important news is a testament to our mission: to ensure safe, accessible, and affordable housing for everyone. Central to this recognition is the first action item in the Administration's newly announced initiative, which aligns with VERO’s founding principles: "Ensuring all renters have an opportunity to address incorrect tenant screening reports."

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) explains, “If prospective renters are not given the opportunity to review and correct the information in these reports, then these renters may be repeatedly denied housing because of inaccurate information in their tenant screening reports. In addition, housing providers may miss opportunities to consider qualified applicants who would have made for quality tenants.” The guidance emphasizes informing renters about the information responsible for their application denial, allowing them to correct errors and address issues impacting their applications. VERO has been a pioneering force in this very area since 2018. Being the only screening provider that creates a fully automated renter-led journey, empowering applicants with transparency is what we do best. By facilitating transparency and enabling renters to dispute inaccuracies, we've helped shape a more equitable rental landscape – keeping on-site teams from the unwavering back-and-forth dispute that has caused countless hours of time and money to be wasted. Our unwavering focus on this crucial aspect has created an environment where trust is not an exception but the norm.

Since our inception, VERO has staunchly advocated for fair tenant screening practices, leading the charge in allowing renters the opportunity to address inaccuracies in their tenant screening reports prior to submitting their information for an operator’s consideration. By ensuring this, owners and operators save time by reducing any back and forth between leasing teams and applicants, increasing the number of applications by 53%.

In an industry often punctuated by opacity and uncertainty, VERO has been a beacon of trust and transparency for some of the most prominent names in real estate. This core practice, having been endorsed by the White House itself, is an acknowledgment that solidifies our role as industry leaders and invigorates us to elevate our services even further. Our ethos has always been centered on ensuring fairness and transparency in tenant screening - and this acknowledgment is a powerful affirmation of that commitment.

This momentous endorsement is for VERO and the entire rental industry, underscoring the importance of transparency, integrity, and fairness. Looking ahead, our vision is a future where every American has access to safe and accessible housing and every transaction is rooted in trust. We stand committed to making this vision a reality.

In light of this recent announcement, there's never been a better time to align with VERO's mission. Whether you're a renter seeking transparency, an operator aiming to streamline your tenant screening process or a stakeholder committed to promoting fair housing, we have the tools and technology to meet your needs. Why wait to reap the benefits of VERO’s platform? Let’s start today – together, we can transform the rental landscape.
